Food Vendor Meeting, April 14

A public meeting will be held on Monday, April 14, 7 p.m. for potential food vendors who may participate in the RAGBRAI overnight event. Any group or individuals that plan to serve food during the bicycle event’s stop in Greene county on Monday, July 21-Tuesday, July 22 should attend this training.

Paulelda Gilbert, Iowa State University Extension Nutrition and Health Specialist, will lead a workshop on food safety, preparation and distribution. Groups may send as many representatives as they wish to the training. Those trained will then have the responsibility to take the information back and instruct their group. Materials will be provided. The workshop will be held at the Trinity Lutheran Church fellowship hall, 801 West Lincolnway, Jefferson and will conclude by 9:00 pm.

Also during this workshop, community representatives from the RAGBRAI committee will review the food vender plans, forms, and procedures. The meeting will be a good opportunity to network with other food vendors to develop a diverse menu of choices for the county’s RAGBRAI guests.
The state food inspector serving Greene county has been invited to share information. However, her attendance is not yet confirmed.

Pre-registration is appreciated to have adequate materials prepared. To pre-register or get more information, contact the ISU Extension Greene county office at 515-386-2138 or email at Jannette@iastate.edu. There is no fee to attend this training. Funding for Gilbert’s program is provided by ISU Extension’s Greene county office.
